Best of the Rest: December 9th, 2008

Today is a special day in the Walker home — my mother turns 50. We’re celebrating my mom’s birthday the only way we know how — by all of us being sick as hell. Fun times, to be sure.

Anyways, here’s the news:

  • Sony to terminate some 8,000 jobs by 2010 – Destructoid
  • Ubisoft learns valuable lesson, vows to never rush sequels again – GamesIndustry.biz
  • Gears of War 2 sells three million units – Shacknews
  • Electronic Arts confirms layoffs after ‘disappointing’ holiday sales – Joystiq
  • Despite cuts, EA will go forward with Dead Space, Mirror’s Edge sequels – Shacknews
  • Illinois man gets scratched disc, sues Microsoft – Destructoid
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO to be ‘microtransaction-based”… bastards – Shacknews
  • Atari buys Cryptic Studios – MaxConsole
  • Being sick absolutely sucks. I’m going back to bed.
