Atari Halts Their Anti-Piracy Campaign

If you haven’t heard, Atari has been on quite the witch hunt over the past several weeks in heir attempt to curb piracy. However, after getting nothing but bad press, including a rather embarrassing incident involving an elderly couple, Atari has called off their war on piracy. For now, at least.

The incident in question revolves around an elderly couple. Gill and Ken Murdoch received a letter from Atari demanding £500 for allegedly downloading an illegal copy of Race07. Quite the impressive feat considering that the Murdochs had no idea what ‘peer to peer’ even was until Atari decided to extort them for cash.

Well, it seems that was the final straw in the long, sad history of Atari’s campaign. Now there isn’t anything wrong with wanting to curb piracy, but the way Atari went about it was simply disgraceful.

Of course, it doesn’t help that the lawfirm that Atari hired to carry out their hit jobs is the same firm that threatened to take people to court over the illegal download of “Army Fuckers”, a gay, hardcore gestapo porn… I never, in a million years, thought I would ever say that phrase… wow.

Let’s just quit while we’re ahead, shall we?
