Atari Announces ‘Ready 2 Rumble Revolution’ for Nintendo Wii

ScrewAttack’s Video Game Vault: Ready 2 Rumble Boxing

Atari is bringing back one of its better franchises with Ready 2 Rumble Revolution for the NIntendo Wii.

The announcement, made via press release, should come as a pleasent surprise for fans of the long lost, but never forgotten arcade boxer. Set for release sometime in 2009, the game promises a mixture of series mainstays and celebrity boxers, and looks to bring back the same over-the-top between-the-ropes combat that we Dreamcast owners miss dearly.

Atari’s Phil Harrison:

Ready 2 Rumble Revolution is poised to take back the title as the undisputed champion of arcade boxing games and we hope to reach an even bigger audience than ever thanks to the huge popularity of Wii… The outrageous celebrity caricatures paired with a fun boxing experience made even more over-the-top thanks to the Wii controllers will make the newest version of this famed franchise a must-have for all fans of boxing and physical fun on Wii.

Atari has also announced that Michael Buffer, the man with the fake-tan who coined “LLLLLLLLLet’s Get Ready to Rumbllllllllllllllllllllllle” will be returning for the new game.

Ready 2 Rumble Revolution will be out on the Nintendo Wii sometime in 2009, undoubtedly to challenge Nintendo’s new Punch-Out game. Either way, if you picked up Facebreaker then you have a reason to hold out hope.

Now somebody tell me when Atari scored the rights for Ready 2 Rumble from Midway, please?
